Gragnano has a strategic position on Lattari Mountains and
has always been very important for the defence of Amalfi. The
castle of Gragnano protected the territory. The town is famous
for the production of pasta, produced since 1500. The first
type of pasta was called "macaroni": for foreigners
macaroni has always been a "synonymous" of Italians.
The pasta of Gragnano is delicious and of high quality. Agriculture
is an important resource and has been practised since Roman
times. In Gragnano there is the manufacturing of swimsuits
sold with the trademark Moda Mare Positano. Nature is beautiful;
there are interesting fortresses of XII century and churches;
gastronomy is delicious, so Gragnano surely deserves a visit. |
